Frequently asked questions

Answers before you share a sensitive document.

These answers cover the basic federal apostille route. Your destination country and receiving organization always have the final requirements.

How do I apostille an FBI background check?

Upload your FBI Identity History Summary PDF and tell us the country where it will be used. We determine whether your document requires a federal apostille or federal authentication and handle the appropriate federal process for you.

Can I submit my FBI background check PDF electronically?

Yes. You can upload the electronic PDF of your FBI Identity History Summary when you place your order. You do not need to mail the original FBI report to us.

How long does an FBI background check apostille take?

We offer Regular and Expedited service. Regular service is estimated at 4–8 weeks. Expedited service is approximately 14 business days. Processing times are estimates and are not guaranteed. Return FedEx delivery time is additional.

How much does an FBI apostille cost?

Regular Federal Apostille service is $250. Expedited Federal Apostille service is $305. Return FedEx shipping is additional.

Do I need to mail my original FBI background check?

No. Your FBI Identity History Summary can be submitted to us electronically as a PDF. Once the federal process is complete, we return the completed hard-copy document to you by FedEx.

Does an FBI background check need to be notarized first?

No. An FBI Identity History Summary does not need to be notarized before federal apostille or authentication processing.

Can an FBI apostille be expedited?

Yes. We offer an expedited service with an estimated turnaround of approximately 14 business days. This is an estimate and not a guaranteed completion date. FedEx return-delivery time is additional.

Can you translate my FBI background check?

Yes. Document translation is available when needed for use in another country. Customers can request translation as part of the service process.

What if my destination country is not part of the Hague Apostille Convention?

No problem. Tell us the country where your FBI background check will be used. Depending on the destination, the document will receive either a federal apostille or federal authentication. We determine and handle the appropriate federal process for you. Some countries may also require additional certification through their embassy or consulate, and we will let you know if that applies.

How will I receive my completed documents?

Completed documents are returned by FedEx. FedEx delivery to any U.S. address is $30. International FedEx shipping is charged at the actual FedEx rate. We will need the complete international delivery address to provide the shipping cost.
